Town of The Week-Paengaroa

We have started a new group of posts, named Town of The Week. These group of posts will tell you about towns in the Western Bay of Plenty, not the Eastern Bay of Plenty. This weeks town is small Paengaroa.

Paengaroa is a small town located near the boundary of the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Paengaroa has a population of 906. Though this seems small, Paengaroa's population is rapidly growing, well at leas for village standards. 831 in 2001, 897 in 2006 and 906 in 2013. Paengaroa's population is set to grow when the Tauranga Eastern Link is opened. This will not only bring growth to Paengaroa, but also the Eastern Bay of Plenty. For more information on the Tauranga Eastern Link check out this. With all this projected growth, Paengaroa might even contend with Kawerau and even Whakatane. But what about now? Don't worry a new, state of the art building. Named Comvita Experience, it will join the Comvita Visitor Centre to attract tourists from around the globe.

With all these predictions and forecasts, Paengaroa is looking to become the Bay of Plenty's new superstar town, but the question is. Will the population do it's part?
Paengaroa's Comvita Experience will open this November.

Western Bay of Plenty Population Boom

No not really but at least the population is increasing. From 2006 to 2013 the Western Bay of Plenty's population has increased from 41,826 in 2006 to 43,695 in 2013. How amazing is that? But dosen't include Tauranga, which has a whopping 114,789 people as of 2013. Although the Western Bay of Plenty is way off Auckland in population standards.(roughly 1.4 Million) We are still good for New Zeland standards. Now I can't be all talk so here are the :) and :( facts:

1. Tauranga grew about 11,000 which is about 75% of the total gained.
2. The most unusual thing is-PSA was supposed to have disasterous effects population wise on Te Puke. Te Puke has defyed the odds to countiue to increase it's population to 7,494.
3. Whakatane and Rotorua both dropped in population.
4. Election boundaries have surpassed the limit(60,000) meaning the boundaries will have to be changed next year.
5. At the average rate that it's going, Island View – Pios Beach will become a ghost town in 85 years. :(
6. At the rate it's going, Paengaroa's population will pass 1000 in 2068. (Can't wait!)
That's enough Census info for you. If not then go to my other blog, wait two days and you can see Tauranga's Census results and more. But from me, GOODBYE! PS: I have always wanted to try this: @Tauranga (Oh Yeah!)

Premiere For Stranded Sundays

Today(Sunday) is the premiere of the one and only Stranded Sundays. What is a Stranded Sunday? A Stranded Sunday is an event held on one Sunday each month at Tauranga CBD. Basically what happens is that from 11am to 8pm The Strand, a street, is closed and people are free to do whatever they like, apart from being drunk, having fights you get the point. This initiative is aimed at bringing "life" back into the CBD and to encourage the many offers instore Downtown Tauranga.
Downtown Tauranga board chairman Glen Tuck and Sally Cooke have fun at the the first Stranded Sunday.

It's fun for the whole Family! Hmm maybe I should go?

That's enough for today from me. Please Share and +1 this post/blog, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
